Lakewood (CA) High School DT Todd Barr will be on UM's campus Aug. 7 with his parents for an unofficial visit. He'll also visit Florida during his trip.

He's already taken visits to Oregon, Cal, Stanford, UCLA and USC.

"I'm serious about Miami," Barr said. "I've got it down to seven schools - Cal, Miami, Florida, Oregon, UCLA, Nebraska and Washington."

He says none stand out at the top of his list right now.

How did he come up with that seven?

"I'd seen a lot of the Pac-10 schools and liked them a lot," Barr said. "Nebraska, I liked the story with Ndamukong Suh. And Miami and Florida are two big deal programs, so I want to go out and see what they have."

Coach Micheal Barrow is his primary recruiter at Miami.

"And I've talked to coach (Rick) Petri," Barr said. "They talk about how things are going in Miami, how things are going out here. We just talk about life stuff."

Barr, who landed a Miami offer in the spring, says he's in no hurry to make a final decision.

"I think I might want to take my five (official) visits to see other schools, get the game environment in my system to see what it's really like to play for that team," he said. "After that, that'll be it - I'll make a decision."

Of what he wants to see on his Miami visit, Barr said, "I want to find out everything - the tradition, the environment, what it looks like out there. I want to learn everything I can.

"I don't know much about the program. I tried to watch the (ESPN documentary) but haven't yet."

Barr finished his junior season with 87 tackles, 32 for losses, with 12.5 sacks, a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries.

"He plays tackle for us, and he's a dynamic player," Lakewood High coach Adam McNeil said. "He's a little under 6-3, is 265. He's very explosive and fast. He's run an electronic time of 4.8. Last year Justin Utupo went to Notre Dame from here - Todd is a bigger kid than Justin as far as weight. He's very good. He's very athletic. With his frame he's pretty powerful."
